Last night was my first night in Rotterdam! I left work around 17.15 and quickly made my way to my ‘second home’. I made some stops on the way for some errands and arrived home around 17.45. Peter – my gracious host, Eva’s cousin – was home already and we started our first evening with a very nice bottle of wine that I brought. He had just returned from vacation so there was lots to talk about. After a quick trip to AlbertHeyn (grocery store) we cooked together and emptied the wine bottle while having great fun. I had a wonderful evening…
This morning when I woke up, I had the luxury of time. No rush this morning. I checked my E-mail first, was surprised to hear Koen when he called me on my cellphone, showered and hit the road around 08.00. Quite a difference, usually I leave the house at 06.15
Either way, I went to “the coffee company” which is supposed to open around 0800. When I arrived at 08.20, they were still closed
I had bought a newspaper on the way and was quite disappointed to find that my morning of bliss was about to be spoiled. Luckily the day was saved by the baker close to our office: I bought a croissant and some coffee there, and enjoyed it on a bench in the sun, overlooking ‘veerhaven’ (a harbour at the river Maas).
