Today Koen finally had his new hairdo. It had been growing and growing and we had been debating whether he’d go get a haircut for weeks already. Eva didn’t want to have his cute curls cut off… but his hair was in front of his eyes almost so it was definately time.

Anyway, I took Koen to the usual hairdresser. Susan (admittedly: she is cute) is really great with kids (well, at least with Koen) and always keeps ‘m busy. Today was no exception. Koen browsed his regular book (Donald Duck) and chatted away. I posted some some pictures of the progress and end result here. As you can see Koen was busy making funny faces and chatting about stuff. This time Koen wanted blue gel. The result is pretty cute!

(for those of you who preferred the curls: they’ll grow back on I’m sure!)

Today it finally happened: I went biking with EricS and ErikP. We were supposed to start at 09.30 in Ede so I had to take an early train. No big deal. The estimated route was 60km, which is a normal roundtrip for me. However, some climbs were included and as Eri[ck] both drive roadbikes I suspected a day of hard work…

Luckily Erik was somewhat out of shape… This became quite apparent on one of the first climbs where I was able to speed past him. Eric, however, was in top shape (having spent a few weeks in Belgium with his bike for training). No chance of staying even near him. We drove from Ede to Otterlo, then across the open field towards the posbank. We took the easy approach (which made it doable for me, not used to much climbing) and drove towards Arnhem from there. We made two short pitstops (one for applepie as we were hungry). From Arnhem we took the fastest route back to Ede.

For me this was a great workout. It was my longest roundtrip so far (approx 75km) at a fairly high speed for me at least (around 26/27 km/h). Looking forward to biking again with these guys. Hopefully next time I’ll be driving a road bike also so I can actually compete with ‘m ;-)

(If you want to know more, keep an eye on Eric’s blog. I suspect he’ll write something as well)

Yesterday I went sight-seeing in Rotterdam with “tante Ted”, Eva’s aunt. We had a great time, and were very lucky with the weather. We started off at the parklaan (where I work) and walked to “Hotel New York” across the Erasmusbridge. From there we took the water taxi to Leuvenhaven and walked over the “walk of fame”. From there we went to the library and the market, saw the “cube houses” and the “Laurens Church. To end the day we walked back to city hall, the bookstore “Donner” and finally had dinner in the “witte de withstraat”. A wonderful day! Pictures can be found here.
