Yesterday I finally got to see Steve Earle, live. About 10 years ago he played in Tilburg but I didn’t go then. I don’t remember why, really. Anyway, yesterday I went with “Waldorf ‘n Stattler” (my dad and my uncle Hans) to see him in Rijssen.
Steve played with his new (7th) wife: Allison Moorer. Frankly I didn’t keep up with the news so I only read afterwards that she’s his wife. Anyway, she did the warm up and got to play a couple of songs with big Steve. I was also surprised to see that he used a drum computer to support some of his songs (from his latest album … which I still have to buy some time). I was a bit shocked by this at first, but I must admit that it sounded really well.
Of course we all sang to stop the war… and of course Steve was pissed at some drunk idiot with a cellphone. And of course he made a fool out of said idiot
Also he explained his vision on the political situation which is a nice thing to hear
It all helped in making this a wonderful evening.
Last but not least: my favorite songs were Copperhead Road and Little Rock ‘n Roller (which he wrote for his son). I also liked the songs from the new album but alas, I don’t know the titles.
