Yesterday I spoiled myself Gall ‘n Gall had their anual “wilde whiskey weken” which means that there was an interesting discount on my favorit liquor. I got a bottle of Glenn Livit (18y/o) and a bottle of Balvenie (15 y/o, portwood). Very very nice, both of them. After buying those I had to rush to the city center for a haircut. Having about 10 minutes to spare I decided to head to Plato -a CD shop- first. Guess what I found: two Johnny Cash boxes that I’ve been searching for years. The first is a box of 3 with most of his work from the Sun years. The second is called “Love, God, Murder, Life” and has 4 CD’s. Yay!

Today I spoiled myself some more with a 40km bike ride. I took a wrong turn here and there so it’s more like a 38-42 km ride (not exactly sure). I did it in an hour and a half though, which is not bad in my opinion.

Last night we got Stijn from his crib for the last meal of the day around 22.30. When he woke up he scared himself by burping very hard. In fact, he burped so hard that it even scared the cat!

Last week was pretty good, despite being very busy at work. The word “samped” comes to mind. There was a lot to be done for my architecture project but I / we managed to get all work finished in time. Some other nice details of last week involve bridge. On Tuesday I played with Serena at “de Lindeboom” and we scored exactly 0imp. I find that a rather funny score and felt that it was quite a good accomplishment.

On Thursday we played a teams match at “Isala”. I played with Tom. Our team mates were Paul and Jan. We won the first match of the evening with 25-1, partly because of a nice slam that Tom and I bid. Here’s the layout:

Tom opened the bidding with 1♥ and my RHO follwed 2♣. Despite having only 7hcp, I felt that the hand deserved an invite for a ♥ game so I bid 3♣. Tom surprised me by bidding 6♥ in one go. Result: 6♥+1.

Unfortunately we lost the second game of the evening. I had a rather unfortunate lead against a 3NT contract and Tom didn’t find the proper play of a 3NT contract and a rather tricky 1NT contract. Our team mates didn’t do anything spectacular to compensate so we lost the match. Better luck next time.

Yesterday I played with Tom again in the pairs competition of our district. We were somewhere in the middle of the leage so we could definately use a good score. Well, we did that with a first place (58%). We’re now in 4th place. I’m not sure if we’re still in the race for promotion but that’s another story.

Last but not least: I went biking again today. Almost 30km in the rain which took about 70 minutes. Not bad
