Sop Katjang Idjoe

Cooking can be a lot of fun. Occasionally we stumble across interesting recipes that are worth sharing. Sop Katjang Idjoe is such a recipe. Easy to make and very nice! The recipe itself is in Dutch (let us know if you have a translation)

Benodigheden

  • 200 g. katjang idjoe boontjes
  • 300 g. vers doorregen spek (buikspek)
  • 2-3 rode sjalotjes
  • 2 preien
  • 1 theelepel nootmuskaat, zout, versgemalen zwarte peper

Bereiding

  • Week de boontjes 1 uur in koud water, overgiet ze met schoon water, breng ze aan de kook en zet de deksel op de pan. Laat 1 uur door koken.
  • Breng in een grote pan 1 liter water aan de kook. Doe het spek er in en pocheer het 40 min. op laag vuur. Snijd de spek in blokjes.
  • Pel de sjalotjes en maak de prei schoon. Klein snijden.
  • Doe de boontjes, spek, sjalot en prei in de bouillon en breng aaan de kook. Kruiden toevoegen en 5 min. laten koken.

    De Engelse versie is als volgd– The English version is as follows

    Ingredients:
    • 200g katjang idjoe (mungbeans)
    • 300g fresh cooking bacon (marbled bacon)
    • 2-3 red shallots
    • 2 leeks
    • 1 thee spoon of nutmeg, salt, freshly ground black pepper

    Preparation
    • Soak the katjang idjoe for 1 hour in cold water, rinse them with clean water, bring them to the boil and put the lid on the pan. Cook for one hour (simmer)
    • Bring 1L of water to the boil in a large pan. Poach the bacon for 40min on low heat. Cut the bacon into cubes
    • Peel the shallots and clean the leek. Chop finely
    • Add the katjang idjoe, bacon, shallots and leek to the broth and bring to the boil. Add the salt, pepper and nutmeg and cook for another 5 minutes.
